Face Lift (Rhytidectomy)
Aging, gravity, sun exposure and smoking have a tremendous impact on the facial skin and supporting structures. Skin thins and looses its elasticity with progressive descent of the skin and soft tissues. A facelift is a repositioning procedure. Sagging skin and cheek fat is lifted toward the original anatomic positions to give a fresher, rejuvenated appearance. The outer skin texture is not significantly affected. Smoother skin with better color balance can be addressed with a daily skin care program and resurfacing procedures, such as chemical peels or laser resurfacing. Recovery from facelift surgery takes up to 2 weeks and the results generally last 8 to 10 years.Forehead Lift (Browlift)
When evaluating the eyes, it is important to check the position of the brow. As in other areas of the face, the eyebrows also descend as a result of aging and gravity. This may result in forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over the eyes and frown lines. People often hear comments about looking tired, older or even angry. Reversing these changes and softening the appearance can be achieved with a forehead lift and the majority can be performed using modern endoscopic techniques. When using the endoscope, Dr. Parva places 3 to 5 short incisions behind the hairline and passes the camera and instruments through these ports to perform the procedure. Recovery time is less than one week and results last for 8 to 10 years.Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty )
The eyes, above all other facial features, reflect the most about how we feel. When the eyelid skin is sagging or puffy, you may look tired, sad, older, or even angry. Eyelid surgery can remove the excess skin and eliminate or reposition the underlying fat, resulting in a rested and more youthful appearance. When evaluating the eyes, it is also important to check the position of the eyebrows. If there has been significant descent of the brow, simply removing eyelid skin will not be sufficient to improve the appearance. A browlift in conjunction with eyelid surgery may provide the optimal results. Recovery from eyelid surgery is less than 1 week and the results may last years, or in some cases be permanent.Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
The size and shape of the nose may give some men and women a sense of facial imbalance. The various components of the nose can be reshaped in order to refine the appearance. This may involve reducing or building up the supporting bone and cartilage frame and refining the tip. In some cases, breathing problems may be improved and insurance coverage may apply. The initial recovery may take 2 weeks. Due to minor swelling and settling of the tissues, the final results may take more than one year. Results are permanent.Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Prominent or protruding ears are often corrected in children before school age, in order to avoid the teasing that may be inflicted by other children. However, many people reach adulthood before seeking treatment to set the ears closer to the head or reduce the size of large ears. The correction involves an incision on the backside of the ear with sutures placed through the cartilage to reposition and contour the ear. Skin sutures are generally removed in one week but sports and other activities should be avoided for 4 - 6 weeks to avoid traumatizing the newly positioned ears. The results are usually permanent.Facial Implants
Chin and cheek augmentation is often used to achieve a more balanced facial appearance. For example, someone may have the appearance of a large nose because of a poorly projecting chin. The facial imbalance can be improved by inserting chin implant. Other individuals may have facial implants placed in conjunction with other facial procedures. The implants are generally placed under the skin directly on the facial bone. The recovery time is less than one week and the results are permanent.Botox
Botulinum A Toxin (Botox) injection is used in the cosmetic treatment for glabellar frown lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows), forehead lines, and crow's feet (lines around the outer corners of the eyes). Botulinum A Toxin (Botox) is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of eyelid spasm, muscle spasm causing crossed eyes, as well as for correcting one-sided facial muscle spasm. The FDA has approved Botox, often referred to by its product name Botox®, for the cosmetic treatment for glabellar frown lines. Botox is also used "off label" for treating forehead lines, crow's feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. This paralysis is temporary, and reinjection is necessary within three to ten months to maintain the result. Complications are rare but may include paralysis of a nearby muscle resulting in its temporary loss of function (i.e., drooping eyelid). Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes. Contraindications to Botox injection include pregnancy, sensitivity to human albumin, sensitivity to aminoglycocide antibiotics and pre-existing neuromuscular disease.
